After Shoot 3 and 4 being so successful with the purple filter, I have decided I certainly want to use that in my final images, as the connotations with the colour being magical, mystical and otherworldly is incredibly relevant and I really want my images to have that feeling about them.
My final images to choose from are:
After all the shoots I have done I am really into the way light can give the sense of a presence and so I certainly want to pick images that not only have the feeling of a living presence but also a supernatural presence, which will play with the idea of witches, and also represent the women who found sanctuary at the tree. It will be more like what people thought the witches to be, after all they weren't really magical yet people thought so at the time.
I initially wanted to present just three photographs in a line, each one with a different light technique. I wasn't sure which ones and came up with a few templates;
I really like the images with the two misty light trails on either side as it encompasses the presentation and makes the images feel well put together as one. However, it's hard to decide which image is best for the middle as I like more than one of them.
The inverted ones are a certain no, as they simply don't work well together because of the tones and lighting differences. With the non inverted images the light being the focus of the image is a constant and so they work far better together.
I then had a few ideas with using four images;
I like the bottom one the best, again because of the way the light trails round off at the edges and make the presentation feel whole. However, I don't think the two images in the middle go that great together because of the way the light is so different.
It was at this point I was told my work could work as diptychs and I really like that idea as it shows more life and energy and change, which is very relevant to the tree and its history. The tree has seen so much change as it stands 800 years old, and the energy and life represents the lives and souls of the women who died in the area and who found sanctuary in the tree. With this feeling of movement caused by two similar photos it feels so much more natural and flows nicely together.
Then finally we have this edit. They're essentially the same image, only the bottom one has more of the lights in the image. This shows not only the life and movement of what was but also represents the growing population and people who are around the tree now.
I decided to put the most busy images on the bottom because the eyes travels from top to bottom, and I wanted them to appear more hectic as you travel through the images. This is because I think it's relevant to the hectic mess of the witchcraft and hunting outbreak that the series is based on.
Overall, i'm very happy with my images and i'm not sure I would have done anything differently even if I could. I feel the theme of witchcraft and it's history could certainly be a project for me to experiment further with in the future.

This is my first edit of a diptych for my final presentation. The two are clearly related and have the same lighting, yet the bottom one shows movement and progression from the first image by having the trail of light in there, which looks rather magical and mystical.
This is the second edit, which will sit in between the other two. While the lighting isn't exactly the same, the techniques and framing are and so it shows the passing of time and again, the movement and presence that I want the audience to feel.
